Second update, 9 months after the first...
07 April, 2009

I am so excited. I have been really studying up on HTML and CSS for the last couple weeks, and I finally have the format for the website that I really want. If you're paying anything that resembles attention, you'll realize that the whole site looks slightly different. This is because I've coded the whole site myself BY HAND!! Woo! HTML/CSS powers ACTIVATE!! I no longer have to rely on iWeb to tell me the few ways I can create my website. I can do anything I want, in any way I want. It's quite an incredible feeling of power.

You may notice that the Writings and Podcast pages are down right now. Once I got the blog page coded and the new blog post written, I wanted to get it added to the website as soon as possible. Now that I have the templates all organized and laid out, I can add the pages -- with new content, to boot! -- quickly. So for now, an update.

Let's begin with the podcast. I've recorded episode 2 a couple times, now, and I think I finally got it right. I'm going to call the podcast "Thoughts From a Car" and record it, nearly in its entirety, from the driver seat of my car. The trouble is that right now, the only voice recorder I have is the Griffin iTalk for my 3-Gen iPod, and it doesn't haave the greatest of recording quality. So I'm going to pinch some pennies and get myself an Olympus recorder before too long. I got a $50 gift card from work recently, and if my wife and I don't use it for a night out, I'm going to put it towards one of the higher end models. It should run me between $80 and $100 for the model I want (records high quality stereo MP3's or WMA's) but that's okay. It's an investment, sort of. But once I get it ready to go, I'll record the final version of the episode (Words from a Car, episode 1, GO!!) and upload it to the site. If it looks like it's going to take too long, I'll see how much I can clean up the version I already recorded. It's not TOO bad, but my car drives really loud, and it's not that great of a microphone, so meh.

I've also been spending quite a bit of time on the novelization of a role-playing story some friends of mine and I did on-line. I have most of it summarized and some of it outlined. A complete redraw was necessary recently, so I got pushed back a little bit, but I'm moving forward. And now that I have my site 80% coded, I can focus on it a lot more. When I get a few of the chapters actually written, I'll put a sampling of it up in the Writings section. I'm also finally going to move the few pieces I've had on Elfwood for the last seven years to Leaving Normality to keep everything in a central location. In the next month, you'll all be able to enjoy the great majority of nearly everything I've ever written.

Anyway, this post seems to have grown beyond what I wanted it to be, so I'm going to close it. Up until now, this website had been kind of a thorn because it looked kind of how I wanted it to look, but it didn't act the way I thought it should. Now with my mutant-like control of HTML and CSS, I can make it do what I want it to do when I want it to do it. Updates will be more often and more worthwhile. Thank you for your interest, and I hope to live up to your expectations.
