"State of the Podcast" address...
20 April, 2009
Well, "It" happened again. I had an episode of the podcast recorded on my iPod, and last night I was getting ready to upload it to the website, but when I plugged my iPod into my laptop, iTunes, once again, informed me that Lucy -- my iPod -- was empty. It wasn't like the other time when it said I had 0 GB Music and 32 GB Other. It was just completely empty. I tried resetting it then plugging it in, plugging it in then resetting it, plugging it in then SMACKING it into my palm (the smack works as a better reset than the actual reset function, wackily enough...) and every other permutation and combination of the three actions, but to no avail. So yeah, if anyone wants to buy me a digital voice recorder, or a new iPod with a new mic attachment (my current one only works with my current generation of iPod) that would be great. Otherwise, you're just going to have to wait and get lucky. On the other hand, I may have actually copied the recording to my computer at work. If so, you may get an actual episode of 'Thoughts from a Car' today or tomorrow, so that's braggable. *Sigh* I guess I have some digging to do. Then some downloading of Audacity. Then, maybe, some clean-up, coding, and uploading.
I don't even completely remember what I was talking about, but I remember it was last Tuesday, and I was recording while driving around a lot, going to the bank and getting tax returns from my dad and stuff. As I've said -- perhaps not to you, but I've said it -- I do my best thinking while driving in my car. Maybe I should be more focused on the road, but I haven't gotten into any accidents yet, so I'm pretty confident in this idea. My whole catch about my website is that it's abnormal, and I've never heard of a car-podcast before, so this could work out entirely in my favor. If I ever get an iPhone, or any similar smart phone, for that matter, maybe I could work out a way to interview people through Skype or iChat or whatever, and record the conversations. It could suck, but on the other hand, it may change the way people think about driving. Or at least change the way people think about stupid podcasts with a lame hitch...
I also remember that I spoke of music. Everyone should check out "The Waters Deep Here," the band of a friend of mine. If you like Tool, Coheed and Cambria or Isis, you'll probably like their sound. They don't have a vocalist, but if you were to take out the singers of those bands, you'd have something that sounds similar to Tool et al. Give 'em some love
here.
There was quite a rant and series of curses about my old job at the payday advance store and some more detail about what they did to me before they fired me, but I got it out of my system and don't think I could rally that anger again. The rants are really more for my benefit than anyone else's, so I really am sorry you missed it. It was epic...
I've got a bunch of my writing, I'm just too lazy to code it into a page for the website. It's just a bunch of copy and pasting, then some slight tag-work. So yeah, when I say it's laziness, it's a more pure form of laziness than you can even comprehend. But I'm adding this blog-post, so it's also a bizzare form of laziness.
Anyway, enjoy this post and, as always, you can send email to
webmaster@leavingnormality.com, and I highly suggest that you do so. Thanks.
