It is still a work in progress, but I have several chapters done, and will post another here each time I finish the one I'm currently working on (rather, each time I finish the one on which I'm currently working). I want to change the format of this menu, but for now, it will have the same format as the other pages. In the meantime, let me tell you a little bit about the world in which Bounds of Freedom takes place.
Moments before the story begins, Vividian, the world's most powerful sorceress — her abilities only rivaled by her malice — is killed by a group of heroic adventurers dedicated to her destruction. Justyn, her friend and a very capable sorcerer himself, and his cat, Arathyl, arrive at Vividian's tower in the aftermath of the battle. Deidre, the world's strongest vampire and Vividian's only other friend, joins them at the tower to reveal that Vividian was not only aware of her imminent death, but had factored it in to her master plan. Justyn, Arathyl and Deidre are supposed to take what she has left for them, and finish what she started.
Deidre herself has a complicated past that invloves both Vividian and the Citadel, the vampire nation. They have had a long-standing hatred of Vividian and Deidre and desire nothing more than vengeance against them. After receiving word of Vividian's death, the vampire Council has set Cailean, its strongest Hunter, to follow the rumors, then find and destroy Deidre. But Cailean has begun to wonder if the Council has become blinded by vengeance, and if he truly has any purpose beyond the death of Deidre.
Deidre herself ponders her role in the world as well, and the true meaning and purpose of freedom. But neither she nor Cailean will be distracted from their goals. Will Deidre complete Vividian's dark plans, or will Cailean and his allies find Deidre, and exact final vengeance on behalf of the vampire nation?
Chapter the Fourth
Bryson Perdra is just a man, a youth, who wants nothing more than for his mother to heal from her illness. What he'll eventually receive, though, is more than he could ever have dreamed.
Cailean, the vampire Council's living weapon, the Dragon's Fang, and his friend Hylier reunite at the Citadel to receive some shocking news. This could be the first step on the path that ultimately leads to Deidre's death.
Justyn and Arathyl arrive to a scene of tragedy, too late to offer any assistance to Vividian. How did it happen? How was there a group of people strong enough to defeat the sorceress?
